All out efforts are being made to open earthquake affected roads of NWFP so that maximum relief goods could be provided to affected population in remote areas of the province. Talking to PTV, Provincial Minister for Health Inayatullah said that relief activities were going on in full swing in accessible areas of the province.

In many areas, basic necessities including tents were distributed among affected people and field hospitals had also been established in worst affected areas, he added.

To a question, he said relief goods were being provided through helicopters in inaccessible areas including Bisham, Ellahi and remote areas of Batagram. Besides provision of relief goods to all affected areas, main focus was on opening of closed and worst affected communication links in NWFP.

He said that the next 20 days would be crucial, as government was trying to provide shelter in inaccessible areas.

Vaccination of the people in remote and far-flung areas was another challenge, as diseases may spread among the population of inaccessible areas, he added.

He said that all out efforts were being made to open affected roads within next four-five days.

Provincial Minister said that relief activities were progressing satisfactorily in the affected areas and relief goods were being shifted to the inaccessible areas through mules. He said that 1300 medical teams were providing medical relief to the earthquake-hit areas of the province.
